The film sequences with a running time of over three minutes are all completely generated in full CG. The main challenge consisted in creating a photo realistic look for the Porsche Concept Car Mission E of which no photographic references existed at the start of the production. In just nine weeks production time Mackevision managed to convey highly complex technical content in superb aesthetic and technical quality.
The Concept Car Mission E embodies the principles of typical Porsche design DNA, combines the real and virtual worlds and considers trends for digitization and urbanization. Mackevision visualized a number of futuristic design and technology features such as menu navigation controlled by eye tracking, virtual exterior mirrors and a gesture control function “from scratch”.
The film was produced in 4k resolution with 50 frames per second. The photorealistic environment was created in mattepainting. The task was to successfully integrate a modern city into a desert-like landscape. For this purpose Mackevision shot backplates on location in Spain and enhanced them in mattepainting with cityscapes. The music has been composed specifically to support the story.
