The project “OCEAN MIND EXPERIENCE – Humpbacks of Hawaii“, created in cooperation with documentary filmmaker Daniel Opitz, won the Gold Award at the Pixel Show Festival, one of the largest and most popular creative festivals in South America. Every year over 50,000 visitors, artists and speakers as well as around 200 exhibitors meet there. Steffen Bärenfänger, Global Creative Lead of Mackevision, was there as a speaker and received the award.
“For us, the award at the Pixel Show Festival is a huge surprise and a great ending to the year in which the OCEAN MIND EXPERIENCE celebrated its premiere,” said Bärenfänger. “The award shows that the combination of CGI and VR also fascinates and moves people beyond national borders”.
Mackevision created a perfect stereoscopic 3D experience of the humpback whales of Hawaii and their natural habitat. The audience is given the opportunity to observe and reflect on a world to which they would never have had access due to nature and animal protection laws.
The award was presented during the Pixel Show Festival, which took place from November 29 to December 1 in São Paulo, Brazil. The creativity at the forefront of the event was underlined by exhibitions, performances, workshops and various lectures in the fields of design, art, film, XR, street art, tattoo, fashion, games and music.
